CALLING all budding pavement Picassos.
The Evening Press is teaming up with Jorvik, York's world-famous Viking museum, to launch a Viking Street Art competition.
We want children to design pictures that they think would look great as street-art.
The winners will get the chance to transform their ideas into reality, and - with help from a visiting artist - draw their pictures on the pavement in Coppergate outside Jorvik on Monday, May 6, the May Day bank holiday.
The event will be reported by the Evening Press, and the winning designs will also be published in the paper. The winners will also receive a family pass to Jorvik.
The theme for entries is connected to Jorvik's superb new exhibitio,Viking Voyagers, which looks at all aspects of Viking seafaring, from life on board and ship design, and trading and raiding.
Pictures should be on A4 paper, and sent to: Jeannette Bollen, Jorvik, Coppergate, York, YO1 9WT, no later than next Sunday, April 28. Name and age should be written on the back, with a contact address and home telephone number.
The age groups are four to seven years, eight to ten years, 11-13 years, and 14-16 years.
The winners will need to be accompanied by their parents or guardians for the duration of the event, which is likely to last two to three hours in the middle of the day.
