THE Evening Press player of the year award has gone down to the final game of the season.
Leader and last year's winner Alan Fettis edged three points clear of closest challenger Michael Proctor after picking up a single point for some fine saves against Mansfield Town last Saturday.
However, an injury against Bristol Rovers in midweek has brought the curtain down on Fettis's season one game early, meaning that a man of the match display by Proctor at Scunthorpe today could see the on-loan striker tying with Fettis for top spot.
Chris Brass consolidated his top five finish with a three-point haul against Mansfield, while Jon Parkin proved himself a model of consistency with two points against both the Stags and the Pirates.
Stephen Brackstone claimed his man of the match accolade against Rovers, with Scott Jones picking up the last remaining point against his permanent employees.
Latest standings: Fettis 45pts, Proctor 42, Nogan 33, Bullock 32, Brass 28, Basham 20, Edmondson 16, Hocking 16, Parkin 16, Fielding 12, Wood 9, Potter 8, Duffield 7, Smith 7, Cooper 6, Brackstone 4, Hobson 4, Richardson 4, Howarth 3, Jones 3, Wise 3, Fox 1.
