York City Baths Club swimmers returned with five gold, five silver and one bronze from the top quality Rotherham Metro open at Sheffield's Ponds Forge pool.
Alice Sunderland ended her swims as an 11-year-old with a collection of four gold and two silvers. The golds came in the 50metres, 100m and 200m freestyle and the 100m backstroke with silvers in the 50m and 100m butterfly. Hannah Petts ended her 10-year-old spell with a full set of gold 50m breaststroke, silver 50m backstroke and bronze in the 50m butterfly. Mandy I'Anson continued her senior comeback with silvers in the women's 50m butterfly and 50m freestyle.
Top eight finishes came from (fourth): Hannah Petts 50m freestyle; (fifth) Will Peeke-Vout 11yrs 200m backstroke, 50m backstroke; (sixth) Phillip Graves 100m butterfly; Nick Boaz 50m breaststroke; Mandy I'Anson 100m butterfly; (seventh) Will Peeke-Vout 50m freestyle; Alex Outhwaite 50m backstroke; Phillip Graves 50m butterfly; Fiona Siddall 50 freestyle; (eighth) Phillip Graves 200m freestyle.
Other York swimmers posting personal best times: Vicky Graves, Adam Darby, Andrew Withers, Luke Hutchinson, Hayley Moffatt, Alice Lawrenson, Laura Cuttill, Andy Fowler and Gawain Ng.
New Earswick swimmer James Richards was again successful in the final round of the Yorkshire Championships, finishing in sixth place in the final of the 13year 50m breaststroke and qualifying for the final of the 50m freestyle, bringing his total of finalist places for this year to four. Andrew Clapham and Mark Baldry both set new long course best times with Baldry improving on his 100m butterfly time by four seconds.
