CIVIL Service Tennis Club duo Andy Potter and Helen Leach blossomed to capture the Fulford Spring Cup.
The event, which was celebrating its silver jubilee, featured 50 high-calibre encounters at Fulford Tennis Centre.
Potter and Leach topped group one ahead of Fulford's Neil Haw and Julie Reilly, while group 'B' was headed by Nigel Skelton and Jackie Heels just ahead of Richard and Diane Ekers, also from the host club.
In a tip-top semi-final Potter and Leach prevailed over the husband and wife Ekers' team winning their one-set match 6-3.
That put them into the final against Skelton and Heels, 6-2 conquerors of club-mates Haw and Reilly.
The final was a see-sawing tussle.
An early 3-1 advantage for Potter and Leach was wiped out at 3-3. But then the Civil Service couple struck again in the ninth game before sealing a 6-4 win.
Trophies were prsented by tournament organisers Beryl Bean and Jeanne Loadman, while all the players who took part received a mememto to celbrate 25 years of the Spring Cup.
