CAN you believe it? Terry's favourite chocolates are made at Nestl Rowntree in York.

Terry Venables, that is.

The former England and Premier League manager is proving himself more than willing to give the city's famous chocolates a boost in a huge promotion which starts on April 8.

But Nestl insists there is likely to be no own-goal through confusion in the public's mind when it comes to the firm's other great York-based chocolate rival, Terry's of Bishopthorpe Road.

"These chocolates aren't Terry's as in the factory. They're Terry's as in the football pundit," said a spokesperson.

The popular television personality will be helping to launch Nestl Rowntree's new "Know Your Football, Know Your Chocolate" instant-win promotion, which gives chocolate fans the chance to win a £10,000 cash prize and receive a phone call from the man himself.

Finders of one of ten winning wrappers will be called by Terry and asked two easy questions, one on football and the other on chocolate.

Each question answered correctly wins £5,000. In addition, thousands of instant-win cash prizes can also be won.

The promotion - Nestl Rowntree's biggest so far - takes place between April and June when football fever is at its height, against a background of The World Cup, the FA Cup and the Champions League and UEFA Cups.

Andrew Harrison, Nestl Rowntree's marketing director, said: "The promotion features one of the best-known stars in football and the biggest stars in confectionery and we hope it will prove to be a winning formula with our chocolate fans."
