RAIL passengers faced disruption at York Station today when services were delayed and one train was cancelled after a man was killed in an accident on the East Coast Main Line near Grantham.
He was hit by the 5.30am Leeds to Kings Cross service, blocking the line for about two hours.
No injuries to any train passengers or staff have been reported.
One train out of York Station to London was cancelled, but all other services were successfully re-routed.
A GNER spokesman said: "We have worked hard to minimise any inconvenience. The line has now reopened."
The man died when he was hit by the train at Belton Woods, near Grantham, said a Lincolnshire police spokesman.
"The East Coast main line has been closed and is likely to remain so for between two and three hours," said Inspector Dick Holmes.
"We are still at the scene along with the ambulance service."
A British Transport Police spokeswoman said officers were going to the scene and would launch a full investigation.
