THE headquarters of a new health authority will be based in York despite opposition from the leaders of a number of local authorities.
The chairman and chief executive of the Strategic Health Authority for North and East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire have told local councils they are unwilling to reconsider their decision to use York as their base.
The leaders of councils in the East Riding of Yorkshire, Hull City, North East Lincolnshire and North Lincolnshire had argued that the decision had been taken without consultation and would not provide services locally enough.
The new HQ is expected to be based at the York Science Park.
