ANDREW Trotman, headmaster of St Peter's School, may feel that the reconfiguration of the campus is working well ("School completes £4.8m deal", April 2).

Sadly, few of his neighbours would agree. Residents of Queen Anne's Road, North Parade and other users of the access routes to the former Queen Anne's site have signed a petition asking St Peter's to stop parents driving to the school.

The understanding was that the dropping-off point would be at the main school site on Bootham and the children would walk down to St Olave's.

Instead, we have seen a massive increase in traffic down these comparatively narrow residential streets, at the beginning and end of each school day.

As many residents are leaving for work at this time, tempers have begun to fray.

When the controversial planning application for the former Clifton prep school site in The Avenue is taken into account, it is little wonder that St Peter's is rapidly gaining a reputation as a very poor neighbour indeed.
