YORK Wasps half-back Mark Cain is set to sign for Hull Kingston Rovers, the Evening Press can reveal.
However, the rest of the squad have pledged to stick with the Wasps at least until its resignation from the Rugby Football League is accepted.
It appears Rovers swooped for Cain after learning that, as the Wasps had folded on Tuesday, the players were free agents.
Robins' coach Gary Wilkinson told the Evening Press he was awaiting verification that Cain was free to leave before confirming the switch. However, he said the 25-year-old agreed to the move last night.
"I realise this won't go down well with the York fans but I have to act in the interests of Hull KR," Wilkinson said.
The rest of the Wasps' squad, meanwhile, held a meeting to decide where to go from here, following the bombshell that the club had ceased trading.
