BUS drivers in York could soon be threatening strike action after unanimously rejecting a pay offer.

Union officials at the Transport and General Workers' Union (TGWU) have confirmed that a deal, offered by First, had been rejected out of hand by members.

The decision, to refuse a 2.2 per cent rise was taken at a TGWU branch meeting on Tuesday night.

Peter Edwards, First commercial manager, said: "The company offer was handed over last week. We are still in negotiation with the union and planning to meet with them again next week."
