Matthew Hoggard, Darren Gough and Michael Vaughan have all been given new central contracts for the summer by the England and Wales Cricket Board - but there is no place this time for their Yorkshire colleague, Craig White.
The successful trio all look certain of Test places against Sri Lanka and India but the emergence of Andy Flintoff as England's most powerful all-rounder has left White some work to do in order to re-establish himself.
It will be a surprise, however, if he does not wear an England sweater either in a Test match or a one-day international this summer and he is still a good bet to make it to the World Cup in South Africa next February.
Yorkshire's Richard Dawson and Durham's Nicky Peng feature in the Denis Compton Awards for young players in 2001. One player from each of the 18 counties was chosen for an award.
