I AM surprised at your informant from Cherry Hill complaining about the noise from St George's Field funfair (Residents complain about funfair noise, April 4).
Living immediately opposite, for one week the noise adds to the vibrancy of the city. Perhaps the next complaint will be of the three girls in their bikinis picnicking on the grass inside the walls opposite Cherry Hill? Keep York young, a fair once a year can not harm anyone.
I find the noise of ambulance and police sirens as they attempt to cross over Skeldergate Bridge far more intrusive as it is there all the year round. This is a necessity as long as there are so few crossing places over the River Ouse.
The great attraction of York lies in its wide variety of entertainment and cultural traditions - so don't ban this 100-year-old fair in the city.
