EIGHTIES punk star turned actress and TV presenter Toyah Wilcox has filmed scenes for BBC Songs of Praise at the Merchant Adventurers' Hall, York.
Toyah, whose hits included It's A Mystery, was highlighting York's hugely-successful Mystery Plays. Along with students from York University's drama group, she acted out scenes from the Chandlers Play of Angels and Shepherds.
The plays are held in York every four years, and are due to return to the city's streets this year after two successful wagon play productions.
Kay Hyde, PR manager for the First Stop York partnership, said: "With about five million viewers each week, BBC Songs of Praise has given the city a fantastic profile which will undoubtedly help increase visitor numbers for the summer season and beyond.
"We contacted BBC Religion during our summer campaign last year and were delighted by the response we got." The Songs of Praise in York is due to be screened on May 26. The Mystery Plays will be held on July 7 and 14. For ticket prices and availability ring 01904 632220.
