But now she dresses soberly and is more likely to belt out a verse or two of Jerusalem.
Toyah Wilcox has not entirely forsaken her punk past: she is reprising her hits in a national tour this month. But she was in York to host that most temperate television programme Songs Of Praise.
Well, at least the former subversive can still claim to Be Loud, Be Proud, Be Heard.
