REPRESENTATIVES from the golf, football and business world attended the funeral service of Arthur Brown at York Crematorium.
Mr Brown, who died last week, aged 88, was a former president of Fulford Golf Club and both York and Yorkshire Union of Golf Clubs. He was also a former director of York City Football Club and he was a founder member of Cliftonville FC, a York Minor League club who produced a number of professional players.
York City were represented by secretary Keith Usher and director Barry Swallow, while former directors John Quickfall, Brian Houghton and Hugh Kitchin - chairman, when City reached the FA Cup semi-final in 1955 - also attended.
Three members of that City side, Norman Wilkinson, Gordon Brown and Sid Storey were in the congregation.
