YORK Housing Association has cleaned up its transport act by taking on a new Liquid Petroleum Gas-powered van.
The vehicle will be used by property maintenance worker Tony Easton who tours the group's 500 properties across York.
It combines with the company's signing up to PlanetYork, the year-long project which aims to make the city the UK's most energy efficient.
"We chose the vehicle because it is in keeping with our environmental policy," said Charles Pasfield, housing management co-ordinator for the organisation.
The van is leased from City of York Council, which is in partnership with the association and is committed to using clean fuel.
Laura Collins, PlanetYork's campaign manager, said: "This is great news for York and shows just what can be achieved by individual organisations in partnership with one another."
