A MAN who was arrested carrying a pistol shortly after a man was seen indecently exposing himself in York was being questioned by police today.
The 33-year-old man was arrested on a footpath near to Scarborough Bridge on the River Ouse just after 7.30pm yesterday. A black air pistol was found on him. His arrest followed an incident shortly before where a man exposed himself to a woman by the river in Nether Poppleton. At about 9.10am the same day a completely naked man was seen lurking in the undergrowth near Clifton Bridge armed with a video camera. Witnesses said it appeared he had been filming the reactions of people who saw him.
A shocked woman called police and officers searched the area but could not find the man.
Police have said they are so far not linking this incident to the later one.
A police spokesman said: "We have received several reports of indecent exposure in or around the area of the River Ouse in York over the last few weeks and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed those offences."
Anyone with information should call police on 01904 631321.
