Harriet Lamborn, from Angram, near York, flies out to Turkey tomorrow to fence as a member of the British pee team in the World Championships which take place at the coastal resort of Antalya during the following week.
Lamborn, who was 20 on Tuesday, is a first year law student at University College London.
She was awarded her full sports colours from London University last week, and learned that she had been awarded a Mishcon scholarship to help fund her studies during the next three years.
She learnt to fence when she was a student at The Mount School under the guidance of Brian Matlass, and latterly, while finishing her 'A' levels at Bootham School, she fenced at the Durham Centre of Excellence.
