MEMBERS of the York branch of the Leeds United Supporters' Club shook off their team's defeat by Manchester United to hail old hero John Charles on Saturday night.
The former Welsh international was the guest of honour at the branch's annual dinner at the Ramada Jarvis Hotel.
He was presented with a trophy by the branch to mark his recent award of a CBE.
Charles, the star turn of the Leeds sides of the 1950s, was accompanied by Peter Lorimer, one of the stars of the Don Revie era, and current defender Lucas Radebe, the South African international, who has missed all this season at Elland Road because of injury.
