TWO people died after the car in which they were travelling went out of control on a North Yorkshire road, police said today.
Police officers from Selby discovered the red J-registered Vauxhall Astra in a field off the A63, a quarter-of-a-mile from the outskirts of Hambleton, last night.
The driver and passenger had been thrown from the vehicle as it left the carriageway and both sustained fatal injuries.
The scene of the crash was discovered between 10.30pm and 11.05pm and police are now keen to speak to witnesses.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said the car was travelling from the direction of Monk Fryston when it lost control on a left hand bend, leaving the road on the offside, where it came to rest in an adjacent field.
Anyone travelling along the A63 who may have seen the vehicle is asked to contact Traffic Constable Richard Gatecliffe on 01904 669727.
