LAUGHING pensioner Letty Young scooped first prize for her "disco chick" Easter bonnet at a York nursing home.
Staff at Oakhaven Residential Home threw down the gauntlet to residents to make the most creative headwear for the annual competition.
Letty, 84, wooed the judge - York actor Gordon Kane - with her creation of three tiny chicks cheeping their hearts out round a microphone.
Letty, who made the winning hat with carer Sue Magson, said: "It was really nice to win - I think I was pretty lucky."
Admin support assistant Doris Redhead said: "Competition was fierce but Letty's hat was the pick of the bunch.
"Everyone had a really good time."
A raffle was also held and raised £170 for new amenities at the home.
