FANS of York Wasps were today taking their first steps to resurrect the club.
About 150 fans attended a public meeting at short notice last night - just three days after 400 fans crammed into an initial crisis meeting - and unanimously agreed to form a supporters' trust with the aim of putting finances and a structure in place to keep the club operating.
The fans want the Wasps, who folded on Tuesday after 11th hour talks with a mystery buyer collapsed, to be readmitted to the Northern Ford Premiership when the league campaign resumes in June after the mid-season competition, the National League Cup, is over.
The club could otherwise rejoin the Rugby Football League next season, though then they would only be associate members of the league and as such would not receive a share of RFL funds.
