THREE police officers were injured today when their patrol car was rammed during a high-speed pursuit across York.
The drama unfolded at 2.07am when police were called to the St Peter's quarter of Leeman Road following reports of cars "racing" each other.
An Austin Maestro was stopped by a patrol car and its male driver was today being questioned by police.
A Vauxhall Cavalier sped off and was pursued by a police over Clifton Bridge, going right towards the city and down Grosvenor Road.
It continued at high speed along Filey Terrace and left into Ratcliffe Street, where a police pursuit vehicle was rammed out of the way.
The injured officers suffered whiplash and minor cuts but did not require hospital treatment.
The Cavalier then carried on along Lucas Avenue towards Kingsway North, and was eventually abandoned in Rowntree Avenue.
The driver, who was wearing a white jumper, was then seen running over a parked Metro car before escaping.
Sergeant Colin Ventress, of York police, said it was not yet known whether the car was stolen.
Anyone with information about the incident should contact York police on 01904 631321.
