ON February 13, 1942, 18 young Yorkshire men of C Company, 1st/5th Battalion, West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales's Own) were lost in an assault boat training exercise in Iceland. February marked the 60th anniversary of this tragic loss which has not been given appropriate attention. The bodies of the lost soldiers were never found.
As a historian I wish to contact the families of those soldiers or anyone else who may have information relating to the accident. E-mail me at blask@centrum.is, ring me on 354-425-4552 or write to me at the address below.
