IT was good to see Wasps wannabe Callum Irving do well at the student regional championships held at York University.
The Wasps trialist, who is set to sign for the Academy, represented Scotland Exiles in the tournament, which also doubled up as trials for national and Great Britain student squads, and helped his side to third place overall.
Irving, a York University student who plays for the York Tigers student side - a combined York Uni and College of Ripon and York St John team - notched two tries and four goals as his side hammered the North West 28-10 in the third-place play-off.
As reported in the Evening Press, Yorkshire, with former Wasps player Gavin Smith in the side, won the tournament.
YORK Wasps Supporters' Club are to hold their next meeting on Tuesday (March 5) at Huntington Stadium, starting at 7.30pm.
The new-look supporters' club committee is now nine-strong following the club's annual general meeting last month.
Louise Ince is currently the chairman, Ken Pearson is treasurer and Michael Chatten secretary, with other positions to be appointed at the meeting.
