YORK leapfrogged Beverley in Yorkshire One with a comprehensive 38-3 victory at Norwood.
Victory was never in doubt once hooker Nathan Harding went over in the fifth minute for a try converted by Mike Ford.
Although Ian Archibald hit back with a penalty and forced York on the back foot, Andy Gair's men tackled superbly and Beverley could find no way through.
After a spell of home pressure York went on the offensive again and hit back with a try by scrum-half James Arkle, improved by Ford.
With a 14-3 interval lead York were able to turn on the style in the second half with winger Rob Kama racing over straight after the restart.
The second period was one-way traffic, with Kama scoring a second try and other touchdowns came from Jeremy Clutton and full-back Ford, who also kicked two more conversions.
The victory lifts York to eighth place with 16 points from 19 games, just three points adrift of Selby, who were without a game on Saturday. Bottom club Pocklington also didn't play.
