A MAN accused of stabbing father-of-two William Brace in Selby town centre has appeared before the town's magistrates.
Mark Richard Hobson, 32, faces charges of wounding with intent and possession of a butterfly knife, which is classed as an offensive weapon.
The charges follow the stabbing of Mr Brace, 30, of Selby, in Gowthorpe, on March 11. Hobson, of Prospect Walk, Camblesforth, was represented by Keith Haggerty and did not enter a plea. The case was transferred to York Crown Court on April 3 for a plea and directions hearing. Hobson was granted bail on condition that he did not visit Selby except to attend court, or to speak to the police or his solicitor. He was also told not to communicate with prosecution witnesses, with the exception of Samantha Batling. Reporting restrictions were not lifted.
