A CORRESPONDENT questioned plans to resurface Wilton Rise, in Holgate (March 7).
This road is an important part of the jigsaw which, when completed, will form a useful cycle route between Holgate and the city centre.
Other elements of the route include a proposed Toucan crossing of Holgate Road, and there will be some dependence on private landowners to undertake sympathetic and timely development of land alongside Cinder Lane.
The possibility may exist to replace the steep steps at one side of the railway footbridge by more easily graded ramps.
The route will link up to the existing facility in Leeman Road tunnel, and its crossing place to the riverside. Fume-laden travel via Holgate Road and Blossom Street can be avoided thereafter.
