IT'S back, and it's bigger than ever.
Since the first edition, The Family and Local History Handbook has established its place as the family historian's bible.
Edited and compiled by Robert Blatchford, from his home in Nether Poppleton near York, the sixth edition boasts more than 400 pages.
The guide is packed with information to help people research their family tree. Sixty feature articles do everything from help readers trace railway ancestors to guide them through the shops of Regency Yorkshire. The rest of the book is divided into different sections relating to genealogy. These include chapters on local history, military history, family history societies, record offices, archives and museums and libraries.
Genealogy has become one of Britain's most popular pastimes, and this directory should be the first purchase for any family historian.
