New York City chairman John Batchelor has not ruled out the option of stepping in and saving York Wasps.
After hearing of the Wasps' plight Batchelor told the Evening Press: "It is quite a sad thing to see happen. It doesn't help the city for a club like this to fold.
"I'm a little stretched at the moment with the start of the racing season and just taking over the football club - and to be honest I'm not sure to what extent the problems are there.
"It has come out of the blue really and I haven't really had time to digest it."
