East Hull Harriers' popular 20-mile race was used as a serious training run by many of next month's local London Marathon runners.
Conditions proved testing, and although 18 athletes ran under 60 minutes for the first ten miles, only the exceptional Ian Fisher (Otley) was under the hour for the second ten-mile split.
Fisher clocked 1hour 52min and 29sec to finish more than six minutes ahead of Ian Malone (Ackworth) 1-58-32.
First local runner home, Mike McGrath (Knavesmire Harriers) had another exceptional run to finish 28th overall and third in the men's O/50's, losing only three minutes against the headwind, while John Booth (White Rose Triathletes), another 50 plus, was second local athlete to finish in 51st place.
The ladies' race was an even more emphatic victory for Beverley Wilson (Cleethorpes) in 2-16-04.
Knavesmire's ladies, Jane Schelmerdine (4th lady, 1st LO/35) and Veronica Mackley (6th lady, 2nd LO/40) turned in excellent performances.
