THE modern mantra has it that burglary victims will never see their stolen possessions again because thieves operate with virtual impunity.
Our story today gives the lie to that assumption. York police's intelligence-led operation in The Groves has netted a huge haul of stolen property.
This is a very encouraging response to the recent news that York is in the midst of a cocaine-fuelled crime spree. The number of burglaries has leapt in line with the influx of crack on to our streets.
York police said they would not tolerate this situation, and today's haul shows they are being true to that promise. The detectives' determination to stamp down on drug-induced crime is commendable.
