I READ your report that implied Government ministers could scrap charges to National Trust properties (MP warns ministers on charges, March 11).
This is one power the Government does not have as the National Trust is totally independent charity.
As such we rely on the support of our members, visitors and supporters for our income which, as Anne McIntosh rightly asserts, is vital in maintaining the wonderful properties in our care.
Beningbrough Hall, Treasurer's House, Fountains Abbey and our other attractions in Yorkshire welcome Evening Press readers in this important year for the trust, after the problems caused by foot and mouth. Please support the county's heritage.
