EVEN after all these years, at the mention of the words York Nomads Society, York City Football Club and the inaccurately-informed media are once again champing at the bit. (March 7).
I was a proud committee member of the YNS in the early Eighties, particularly involved with fundraising events for the numerous charities.
We were also championed by the manager and playing staff at the time for a more than vocal support home and away when all around was complete silence.
Let me give you the real facts.
The YNS no longer exists, it wound up more than ten years ago. All that is left are two very good local amateur football teams and probably none of these team players were members of the YNS.
Ex-members, of which I am one, still love and support York City wherever possible. Many of these ex-members have moved on and by now are fathers and, in some cases, grandfathers.
A small percentage will be my friends for life. If a group of individuals choose to attach themselves to York City or the now-defunct YNS and set up a website on the Internet please don't tar us all with the same brush.
