THIS week's Yesterday Once More comes from 1955, when the Northern Command Military Tattoo returned to York after a 22-year gap.
More than 100,000 packed Knavesmire to enjoy the pageantry.
The top picture shows Arab Legion bandsmen rehearsing near the city walls, while bottom right shows the soldiers enjoying a trip to Clifford's Tower, much to the enjoyment of local children.
Pictured below is the white-helmeted Royal Corps of Signals motorcycle team.
Its display was dubbed "hair-raising" by the Evening Press reporter who saw it.
In the final picture, we see pipers from the Royal Scots Greys Black Watch and the Cameronians marching down Petergate.Copies of pictures from the past can be ordered from the Evening Press.
