A BUS driver was arrested in York after a road rage incident.
It followed a complaint by a car driver that he had been assaulted just after midday.
Managing director of First York Brian Asquith said one of his drivers was involved the incident on the section of road between Ouse Bridge and the turning for George Hudson Street.
He said the matter was in the hands of the police and that pending their inquiries his bus company would be taking appropriate action.
He said that if there had been an act of aggressive behaviour the driver could be subject to dismissal.
He said that there were a few passengers on the No 4 bus at the time of the incident, and that they all alighted when the police were called.
North Yorkshire Police confirmed that a bus driver had been questioned at Fulford Road Station.
No one was seriously injured in the incident.
The driver was bailed pending further inquiries.
