SESSIONS 'A' have retained the York and District Table Tennis Association championship with games in hand.

They were well led by Mick Wilcockson as they notched up two big 10-0 wins against York RI 'B' and Bootham CC 'A' to take the crown again.

Wilcockson, Chris and Andrew Nicholls were unbeaten in both matches.

York RI 'B' also won 10-0, against INL 'B', to remain in second place.

Coneysthorpe 'A' pulled clear of relegation after their 7-3 win over a two-man Bootham CC 'B'. Charles Allenby was unbeaten for Coneysthorpe.

In division two, Poppleton 'B' are on course for promotion after beating Bootham CC 'C' 8-2 to open a small lead over York RI 'C'. Mike Cooper won all three for Poppleton including a good 21-18, 23-21 win over Richard Ingleby.

Tim Smith was unbeaten for York RI 'C' as they overcame BT 'A' 7-3. Three wins from Keith Elsegood helped Sessions 'B' to a 7-3 win over BT 'A'.

Nestl Rowntree 'B' beat the bottom team Northern Electric 9-1, thanks to three wins each for Jill Schofield and Nigel Reeson. John Elliott's three wins could not stop York RI 'D' going down 6-4 to Nestl Rowntree 'A'.

Poppleton 'C' are nearly home in division three after a 9-1 win over York RI 'E' which pushes RI down into the relegation zone. BT 'B' also had a 9-1 win over one of the bottom teams, Bootham CC 'D', who were on the receiving end of three wins by Bill Carter and Jim Stevenson.

The only one of the lower teams to win were Terry's who beat Fulford Rd WMC 'C' 7-3 with Helen Standish and John Graham winning three each.

Poppleton 'D' managed a 5-5 draw with Police, who also drew with Poppleton 'A'.

Two wins for Coneysthorpe 'C' moved them up the table to safety. Malcolm Haswell won all three in their 6-4 win over Bootham CC 'D' and he repeated the feat with John Foxton when Coneysthorpe beat Poppleton 'E' 7-3.

Division four leaders Norwich Union 'A' were held 5-5 by York RI 'G', whose Richard Leafe won three matches.

Dennis Chapman was unbeaten as York RI 'F' beat Shepherds 'C' 7-3. Teresa Melling had a good win over Betty Norman 21-19, 21-15.

Nestl Rowntree 'C' kept their promotion hopes alive after their 6-4 win over Shepherds 'C'. Richard Falkingham won three for Nestl and did the same, with Thompson as Nestl Rowntree 'C' won 8-2 against Shepherds 'B'. Alan Mozley won all three for Poppleton 'F' but his team were well beaten by York RI 'H'.
