YORK bowler Dot Kennelly has had a great few days.
She was a member of the Yetton Trophy winning team at Nottingham and partnered with her daughter Sharon Clipperton (Scarborough Club) to seal a place in the semi-finals of the Generation Pairs.
As reported in Monday's Evening Press, York won the Yetton Trophy for the third time after their previous successes in 1988 and 2000.
They beat Surrey rivals Egham - the same side they had defeated in the final two years ago - 80-65 in the final at Nottingham and will receive their trophy and prize money at the official presentation at Northampton on May 4.
That will be a week after Kennelly and Clipperon's semi-final at the same venue.
They easily beat Jamie and Pat Reynolds (Peterborough) 26-19 in the Generation Pairs quarter-final at Newark.
York and District IBC claimed their place in the final of the Yorkshire Over 55's League for the second year running with an excellent 11 points to 1 win after beating Ryedale 83-55.
At home, Fred Clayden, Dennis Haw, Mike Pearce and Alan Storey took the pressure off the other rinks with a 27-9 win dropping no more than a single on the ends they lost.
In the other rink, Barry Walker, Dave McCowan, Tom Ellis and Doug Mitchell were losing 14-12 with four ends to play but won them all and took the game 21-14.
Brian Thomas, Alwyn Johnson, Norman Vause and Ken Patterson were also involved in a tight game at Ryedale where there were only five ends when more than a single was scored but the York team were never behind and won 15-11.
Peter Littlewood, Geoff Orglesby, Arthur Dunbar and Dudley Williams scored a five on the seventh end to lead 10-5 which then became 14-10 after ten ends.
Ryedale pulled back and took the lead with a run of five winning ends leaving them 18-14 ahead. Littlewood's team came back again with a four and two singles to lead 20-18 going into the last end where Ryedale grabbed a three to take their only point from the game.
York now play Hornsea in a repeat of last year's final at Doncaster on Wednesday, April 3.
New Earswick's Stephen Long moved into the semi-final of the Yorkshire Under 18s Singles after an excellent 21-11 victory against Ryedale's Richard Kirby.
York's Philip Scott was disappointed to lose to Huddersfield's Matthew Hick after being 17-14 ahead, losing out 21-19. The semi-finals and final will be played this coming Sunday at New Earswick.
York and New Earswick's juniors joined together in the Bellamy Wright Trophy at Ryedale IBC when they lost out on shots difference to Thornaby after picking up the same number of points from their games.
Philip Scott skipped the rink that included Josh Cahill and Alistair Domville. Stephen Long included Rob Domville, Nick Ollis and Philip Bruce and Liam Cahill skipped Philip Herridge, Adam Tattersall and Adam Little.
