A THIEF was jailed for two months for a £2,100 raid on a garden shed.
Solicitor Jane Maloney told York magistrates that Daniel John Rocks, 25, had no intention of committing a crime when he cut through Scaife Gardens, off Haxby Road, on February 1.
But as he passed a garden shed, he decided to go and see what he could find. "Because he was doing it so blatantly in broad daylight when someone was watching, the police apprehended him immediately," said the solicitor.
Valerie McMinn, prosecuting, said Rocks had 30 golf clubs on him and a stolen mountain bicycle when police stopped him.
Rocks, of Burdyke Avenue, Clifton, pleaded guilty to theft.
He also admitted breaching a community punishment order of 40 hours imposed for stealing items from a car in the early hours of January 27 last year.
