The final round of the Acomb Tackle York Winter Angling League saw 108 hardy souls battle with a storm-ravaged river Ouse below York.
Wibsey Angling team, led by Tony Marshall, finished second on the day to land the league title.
The individual winner on the day was Jim Carter (Barlby Village Stores) but his performance was not enough for his team to close the gap on Wibsey.
Drawn below the Donkey Woods sand bed he fished a groundbait feeder packed with chopped worm and baited with red maggot.
Two slabs, three skimmers and some roach obliged for 13lb 9oz and a £200 pay day.
Ray Peart (Scratchers) was peg three in the 'Pumper' and used pole and worm for a single bream plus perch for his 5lb 4oz.
Mick Potter (Barlby Village Stores) sneaked into third place. Fishing from the Palace bend he netted four skimmers and two perch on feeder and worm for 4lb 3oz.
He edged out Tony Marshall (Wibsey Angling) who had a mixed bag of 4lb taken on the pole and maggot two pegs in at Middlethorpe.
Two pegs downstream, veteran angler Stan Haigh (Mitre) weighed in 3lb 5oz which gave him enough points to nick the individual title from long time leader Carl Pringle.
Team Dobin's new signing Bob Morris, fishing for Railway Institute, had top weight in the Bridge field with 3lb 2oz, a skimmer and some quality roach.
Teams result: Barlby Village Stores 21-8-8, Wibsey Angling 8-11-8, Mitre 7-9-0, Scratchers 5-12-8, Railway Institute 5-7-8, Cochranes 5-6-0
League teams final placings: Wibsey Angling 78, Barlby Village Stores 70, Mitre 66, Bar Six 62.
Individual competition: Stan Haigh (Mitre) 54, Carl Pringle (Bar Six) 50.
Stuart Wilson (Marsh Tackle) topped Sunday's 27 peg curtain raiser to the Spring Series at Carpvale with a level 32lb.
Drawn on peg four he took advantage of the vacant peg three and cast a bomb and meat into the corner for seven carp.
Gary Watson (Leeds) had 20lb 12oz of feeder caught carp on meat and corn from peg six to see off the challenge of the anglers targeting silver fish.
Following his shock resignation from the crack Bar Six winter league squad to captain Team Dobin, Mick Addinall will have been disappointed with his 12lb 4oz of roach.
Fishing pole and bloodworm from peg 14 the net was significantly less than was caught by a fellow Dobin member the previous day from the same peg.
There are still some big chub left in the Upper Ouse and two of them decided Sunday's final Marsh Tackle 52-peg match at Hunters Lodge and Linton.
Norman Thewliss (Hirst Tackle) had the match in the bag after the opening ten minutes.
His first cast at Bungalows peg 209 was with a big bunch of wasp grubs impaled on a gaff and tied to some rope.He needed it, as a chub of 5lb 14oz was soon in the net.
Thewliss later added some roach on a maggot feeder for his total of 7lb 2oz.
The consistent Ian Bates (Hirst Tackle) was catching small roach on a maggot feeder at Linton 252 when a 4lb chub showed to boost him to 5lb 12oz
Others: Trevor Hewitt (Marsh Tackle) 4-4-0, Terry Morgan (Marsh Tackle) 3-12-0, Steve Smith (Marsh Tackle) 3-7-0, Peter Rambow (Cleveland Angling Centre) 3-1-0.
The banks of Maple Lake at the Oaks on Sunday looked like a scene from the Somme at the final whistle as the 52 competitors endured a hurricane wind.
Amid the devastation of broken poles and outside-in umbrellas a few fish were tempted from the quieter corners of the pool.
Andy Stoner (Wakefield) scored a won with 26lb 13oz from peg one. Fishing at ten metres with corn he found some better carp, with fish to 3lb.
Ray Wallace (Big Waters) struggled with nine metres of pole at peg 31, where he netted 18lb 4oz of carp to 2lb on maggot over pellet.
Others: Martin Whittaker (Oaks) 15-12-0, Mark Coyne (Cleveland Angling Centre) 11-12-0, Ian Gladders (Leeds) 10-14-0, Mel Sykes (Oaks) 10-10-0.
The Saturday open match at Woodlands drew a huge entry of 110, requiring all eight match lakes to brought into play.
Strong winds hampered pole presentation and it was the tip men who triumphed.
Ian Bowman (Maver Barnsley) led from Swallow 15 with 42lb 11oz. Taking advantage of the corner he cast a bomb and corn tight to the aerator netting a mixed bag of carp, tench and chub.
The defining moment came when he slipped his net under a bonus 7lb ghost carp.
In-form Dean Smith (Van den Eynde Goole) scored again from another corner peg Dragonfly 21. He also opted for bomb and corn and found better fish netting just ten carp, with a best of 8lb, on his way to 37lb 3oz.
The best weight of Mallard went to Keith Fryatt (MAP Elton) who had a mixed bag to maggot feeder of 32lb 9oz.
Others: Andy Kinder (Maver Barnsley) 29-14-0, John Allerton (Tricast Whizzo) 25-13-0, Peter Close (Darlington Angling Centre) 23-10-0.
The final round of the Bob.co match series on the Ouse at Thorpe Underwood saw Dave Armitage (Hirst Tackle) pocket nearly £700 after snatching the title on section countback.
Victory came thanks to a tie for top spot on the day, with Phil Austin (Armley Angling) also netting 3lb 9oz in Saturday's 45-peg event.
Both anglers used small groundbait feeders with maggot and pinkie for nets of small roach. Armitage was at peg 36 and Austin at peg 12.
Others: Tony Webster (Hirst Tackle) 2-11-0, Dave Robson (Selby) 2-2-8, Martyn Highe (Hirst Tackle) 2-2-0, Peter Hyde (Marsh Tackle) 2-0-0.
League final positions: Dave Armitage (Hirst Tackle) 45, Martyn Highe (Hirst Tackle) 45, Trevor Hewitt (Hirst Tackle) 43.
Al Martindale (Tang Hall Match Group) beat the wind and 24 rivals at Raker with the waggler. Drawn at peg 15 he fished down the track for 13lb 12oz of small carp and silver fish.
Others: Gareth Sellars (Team Gem) 13-6-0, Lou Cardiss (Morley) 13-3-0.
