TWO world darts champions were a big hit in York last night when they gave a brilliant show at Burnholme Social Club, writes Hugh MacDougall.
Embassy world men's title holder Tony David and women's champion Trina Gulliver were on target against local players at the Embassy World Darts Roadshow compered by television commentator Tony Green.
"It brought the fun back into darts," York John Smith's Ladies Darts League secretary Pat Bowness said after the show in a packed club.
She and Tracey Farmeary won prizes in the Bullseye competition and they were among the line-up of local players who took on the two champions. The only York winner was Sue Lowery, who beat Gulliver and received a winner's certificate.
The emphasis was on entertainment centred on darts and Bowness said it was a great night which everyone there enjoyed.
The others who took on the star visitors were Michelle Britton, Dawn Exton, Roz Kerr, Diane Moreland, Wendy Smith, Tina Platt, Jill Warriner, Karen Richardson, Pete Leake and the two winners of the Evening Press competition, Angie Hields and Lee Mason.
