A GARDEN to celebrate the Golden Jubilee is to be built in York.
Horticultural students from Askham Bryan College are designing and building the Jubilee garden next to the National Railway Museum's city entrance in Leeman Road.
The tribute to the Queen will be next to an original Victorian railway building and will incorporate several original items from the National Collection. These include an 1875 drinking fountain from Skipton.
Belinda Morris, of the NRM, said: "What better way to celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee than with a garden that will provide lasting enjoyment for visitors to the Museum."
Graeme Murdoch, acting principal of Askham Bryan College, said: "This is a great opportunity to showcase the considerable talents of our staff and students. It is good to know that their work will be appreciated by thousands of people from all over the world for many years to come."
