ONE man from York and another from Knaresborough were arrested on suspicion of assault when trouble broke out after York City's game at Cheltenham Town.
The two men, both aged 20, were today released on police bail until later this month.
Up to 20 City fans were said to be involved in disorder, which left one Cheltenham supporter slightly injured after Saturday's game.
A separate group of about 17 York supporters was taken to Cheltenham station and sent back to York by British Transport Police.
Gloucestershire Police admitted they were taken by surprise by the trouble.
Inspector Dave Collicott said that a group of about 20 York fans turned up who were "intent on causing problems". "Following the match, there were a number of incidents in the town centre involving approximately 20 visiting fans."
The two men arrested are due to return to Cheltenham Police Station on March 27.
