ST Peter's School, York, are preparing for an historic trip to Twickenham in the Daily Mail Schools Rugby Under 15s Cup on Sunday, March 24.

The boys earned their place in the final at the home of English rugby union after seeing off the challenge of famed Somerset-based sporting school Millfield in the semi-final 22-5.

They will now meet Outwood Grange School, Wakefield, in an all-Yorkshire clash.

St Peter's, who reached the semi-finals four years only to lose out to RGS High Wycombe, laid to rest that defeat with a superb display.

Tom Woolsey got the school off to the perfect start with a try in the first minute. Ben Hough made the initial hard yards, and the momentum was maintained by two forward drives before Woolsey added the finishing touch.

With a strong wind blowing into their faces, St Peter's found themselves having to defend, but try as they might Millfield could find no way through in the opening 40 minutes.

However, while they drew a blank in the first half, the Somerset school pulled level two minutes after the interval.

But St Peter's upped their forward aggression to force their rivals on to the back foot.

And as the pressure mounted, Woolsey scooted over for his second try and Mark Jagger gave them some much-needed breathing space with a score of his own. Charlie Parry converted both tries and then slotted over a penalty to complete the victory.
