YORK took the scalps of twice previous champions Egham to win the National Express Yetton Trophy - the Women's All-England inter-club bowls title - for the second time in three years at Nottingham at the weekend.
Carol Instone and Linda Harrison were York heroines in an emphatic 80-65 victory in the final, repeating their triumph over the same opposition in the 2000 showdown.
Instone led twice English triples champion Kath Strutt 11-7 after nine ends, then unleashed ten shots over seven ends to power 21-8 clear, going on to complete her demolition job 30-13.
Harrison rampaged 11-1 ahead after nine ends against experienced campaigner Pam Garden, who slashed the gap to 12-9 before Harrison swooped with two singles, a treble and a double on the run-in to power home 19-9.
Pat Napier was another York star, storming back from 13-6 down at halfway and scoring on seven of the last 11 ends to topple England international skip Doreen Hankin 18-17.
York's only defeat against the Surrey team came when Sue Chilton's rink crashed to Pat Launders, who charged 13-3 ahead and stayed in command to win 26-13.
Earlier, York saw off Desborough Maidenhead 96-64 in the semi-finals, Instone leading the onslaught with a stunning 24-9 victory over England legend Mary Price.
Harrison outbowled Maggie Scrace 26-18; Napier piled the shots high to slam Maggie Hooper 28-16; Chilton was edged out 21-18 by Val Linton-Phare.
York's champion line-up is Joan Jackson, Brenda Love, Sue Kirkpatrick, Carol Instone, Lynda Parker, Joyce Chelin, Melanie Brooke, Linda Harrison, Dot Kennelly, June Clayton, Sue Tomlinson, Pat Napier, Madge Zimnoch, Maureen Walker, Trish Harrison and Sue Chilton.
