THERE was semi-final disappointment for both Harrogate Town and Nestl Rowntree at the weekend.

Nestl had been handed a second bite at the cherry after their North Riding Cup semi-final opponents Cargo Fleet Social Club had fielded an unregistered player in their 2-0 victory.

However Nestl failed to take their chance as Cargo racked up the same scoreline to book their final place.

Two goals in a minute immediately after the break - so quick assistant-boss Jon Reynolds missed them both as he was still locking up the dressing rooms - sealed the result.

It took extra time and a fortuitous goal to knock John Reed's Harrogate Town out of the UniBond League Chairman's Cup.

Having held premier division outfit Droylsden to 0-0 over the 90 minutes, Town, the first division leaders, were undone when Neil Hall's late cross eluded everyone and dipped in under Ashley Connor's crossbar.

Selby Town finally ended their disappointing run in the Northern Counties East premier division with a 2-1 win over second-placed Hallam at Flaxley Road.

The Robins started brightly and took the lead after 15 minutes when Kris Baxter fired into the bottom corner after a good run by Andy Cygan.

Hallam equalised after 37 minutes when Lee Morris volleyed in from 20 yards and young keeper Craig Code had to make two great saves to prevent the visitors taking the lead just before the interval.

In a tight second half, Selby grabbed the winner in the 67th-minute when a Peter Collier chip into the penalty area was scrambled home by Nigel Croad.

Tempers began to fray in the final few minutes and both sides were reduced to ten men when Craig Pinder and Cygan were sent off.

Harrogate Railway remain in fourth spot, courtesy of their 2-1 victory over Glapwell.

Ian Hart and Steve Davey netted the goals to see Rail to their 13t win of the season.

Pickering Town produced an improved display as they drew 2-2 with last season's champions Brigg Town.

Lee Borman gave Brigg the lead before goals from Stefan Zoll and skipper Simon Sturdy put the Pikes in front.

Town keeper Kevin Martin saved a Simon Roach penalty, before Brigg managed to pull level through Simon Drayton.

Tadcaster Albion's return to action at home in Division One saw them draw 1-1 with Staveley, Dave Ward netting the only goal for Wayne Day's men.
