YORK company Skycell is teaching children about lighter-than-air flight during Discovery Week, a range of events around York as part of National Science Week.
The firm will also be digitally recording the event, at the Guildhall, from the air, using its Aerial Imaging Platform, a revolutionary new aircraft capable of flying inside delicate and historic buildings.
Visitors will be able to view the exhibition from the platform's perspective through a live video link. The airship is used by surveyors to inspect heritage buildings.
The exhibition will part of the Science Works! Exhibition in the Guildhall from 10am to 5pm today and tomorrow. Admission is free.
Meanwhile, York University's project to teach schoolchildren about science will be on show during Discovery Week. Pupils from 13 schools in York, Malton and Tadcaster will be set problems to solve such as why fizzy drinks taste better when they're cold.
The scheme, designed to teach science in a new and exciting way, will take place at the National Railway Museum, York, on Monday, between 6pm and 8pm. Admission is by free ticket only. Contact Julia Fielding on 01904 686283.
