HERE'S a timely reminder to all forgetful children to buy some flowers for your mum tomorrow - for Mother's Day.
These beautiful daffodils - a sure sign that spring is upon us - were pictured nestling in the garden of the Merchant Adventurers' Hall in York by Evening Press photographer Garry Atkinson.
Meanwhile, York's midwives are marking their centenary by presenting a special certificate to new mums and their babies tomorrow.
Local members of The Royal College of Midwives will also present them with the "breath of life" rose.
Midwife Tanya Qualter, secretary of the RCM York branch, said: "We have a lot to celebrate and want to share our special event with the local community. Because of the training and education started 100 years ago midwives can now help pregnant women maximise their well-being, develop confidence in themselves and in their ability to be good parents."
- Copies of our daffodil picture can be ordered from the Evening Press.
A print measuring 7x5 costs £5 with 50p postage and packing. A 10x7 costs £7 (50p p+p), or a 12x8 costs £10 (£ p+p). Finally, a 16x10 costs £17, also with £1 p+p.
All sizes are approximate. Payment by cheque should be made to York & County Press and sent to Photographers, Evening Press, 76-86 Walmgate, York. YO1 9YN. Alternatively, call photosales on 01904 567135.
