A TIE based on Australian personality, Rolf Harris, has won a competition for a York teenager.
Katie Klavenes, a Year 9 pupil at Huntington Secondary School, was the local York School winner in the Annual Young Tie Designer competition.
The competition, organised by the Guild of British Tie Makers, was open to schools across the country. Pupils were asked to design a tie with a specific star personality in mind.
The contest was entered by 270 pupils in years 8 and 9 at Huntington School. Other designs were based on stars ranging from Harry Potter and David Beckham to Terry Wogan and Trevor McDonald.
Gary Littlewood, a teacher at Huntington School, said he thought Katie's design had won because it was simple, unusual and very colourful.
Katie's winning tie was on display with the entries of the 24 other regional winners at the Headquarters of the British Clothing Association, which organises London Fashion Week. She received a certificate of excellence for her design.
