YORK COLLEGE have battled their way through to the National Netball Schools finals.
Their Under 19s will be in action at Manchester on Saturday, March 16 after finishing runners-up in the regional tournament at Hull.
Their squad is Beck Brady, Kate Macmillan, Debra Slater, Sally Howes, Zoe Brown, Sarah Hurd, Liz Davies, Emily Janes and Rowan Blenkharn. They are coached by Anne Haithwaite.
Joseph Rowntree made home advantage count as their Under 15 and Under 13 teams won their regional finals. However, there is no national competition for those age groups.
The Joseph Rowntree Under 15 team dominated their section, beating Bradford GS 'B' 8-5, Wakefield 15-6, Huntington 12-6, Northallerton 10-5 and St Aidan's 8-3.
In their semi-final they were drawing 9-9 after normal time but made a brilliant interception in the extra five-minute period to snatch a place in the final where they beat Bradford 'B' 10-8.
Joseph Rowntree's Under 14s, without their goal attack Melanie Ward, who has recently attracted the attention of England's selectors, were also in the Under 15 section be found it tough against the older teams losing to Bradford GS 16-6, Royds 10-1, Harrogate GS 6-2 and All Saints 6-3.
There was an all-York semi-final in the Under 13 tournament where Joseph Rowntree beat All Saints, winners of their section, 11-8.
In the final they beat Harrigate GS 9-7 after leading 7-1 at half-time.
Earlier, Joseph Rowntree beat Wakefield 9-8, Abbey Grange 13-4, St John Fisher 'B' 13-1, v Royds 16-1 and lost 12-10 to Harrogate GS.

Joseph Rowntree Under 13s: Cheryl Fairclough (capt), Nina Malton, Hannah Errington, Sarah Welsh, Emily Armstrong, Rosie Wright, Rachel Caffrey, Nicola Paget.
Ampleforth College Sixth Form Girls hosted a netball tournament at the end of their season.
Newcastle school Westfield won the senior section with Gordonstoun second and Ampleforth third.
Westfield completed the double by winning the junior competition in which Gordonstoun were runners-up.
FOOTBALL
York City Boys U11's drew 2-2 with Sheffield last Saturday. York's goals were scored by Joe Lister and Tom Corner.
The U14's lost 4-0 to Barnsley last Saturday.
